From 1917 to the present – in just over 100 years of our company's history, we have transformed ourselves from a Japanese manufacturing company to one of the world's leading producers of sanitary ware. We have a team of over 36,000 employees at 39 locations in 18 countries around the world, and produce over 13 million pieces of sanitary ceramic each year.

Research and Development


Today, we are a comprehensive provider of bathroom products with globally networked production and sales locations. Ensuring the highest quality in our products is one of our top priorities, and this is why our Research and Development department at our headquarters in Kokura, Japan has over 900 employees alone.


Each year, we invest a portion of our revenue into the new and continued development of our processes, products and technologies. This amounted to 3.1% in 2022 – well beyond the industry average. It’s also important to us to register for patents every year, and we completed 456 registrations in 2022. So far, we have over 4,133 patents – a very high number that even put us in the “Guinness World Records” book.


Highly qualified engineers constantly monitor and optimise our processes at our international production sites as well. No products leave our works without thorough quality inspections.
