Great Scotland Yard Hotel was once the original headquarters of the Metropolitan Police, the Ministry of Defence and the private home of Scottish Royalty; it is now transformed into a grand 5-star luxury hotel in the centre of London. An 1820’s Grade II listed building with both Victorian and Edwardian architecture, it is where tradition and history meets modern luxury. It is part of the Hyatt Group’s Unbound Collection, its first in the UK.
EPR Architects breathed new life into this neglected building which is located a stone’s throw from Trafalgar Square, where they created 153 rooms with several eateries, whisky bar and members room. They sensitively reconfigured the building adding loft space and basement areas whilst the design retained the style of the original building and sits comfortably in its traditional surroundings.
Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) were responsible for the interior transformation that expresses the individuality of this infamous building. With an unexpected play of Edwardian-inspired hues and patterns, conventional Whitehall (home of the British Government and Civil Service), and a burst of colour that relives the timeless elegance and sophistication of the era with a battery of contemporary detailing.
Bathrooms of all the suites are installed with either WASHLET® SG, GL or NEOREST® WASHLET® EW adding next level hygiene and comfort for the hotel guests. The impactful bathroom designs combine all the elegance of a bygone era; marble floors and surfaces, richly tiled walls and glass screens and have WASHLET® fitted as standard - demonstrating how TOTO state-of-the-art shower toilets fit seamlessly with traditional architecture and interiors.
