Originally the site of a Royal Naval Dockyard in the 18th century, Trident Hotel Kinsale was built in the 1960s. In 1986, it was purchased by the Good Family from Kinsale. The stone-store area, which had been in use for 400 years, was then converted into the Wharf Tavern, Pier One Restaurant and banqueting suite for weddings, meetings and conferences.

TOTO has supplied 10 sensor activated automated faucets. These have been specified by interior designer Daphne Daunt for the hotel’s public washrooms for their sustainable credentials. The almost invisible sensor doses out the correct amount of water required whilst another hidden technology - the generator - transforms the energy produced by the flow of water to supply the micro sensor with the electricity necessary to make this faucet self-powered, where no power socket is required. These touch-free taps offer enhanced hygiene to hotel guests.
