Grand Designs is a popular UK TV programme that follows the progress of self builders as they invest all their time, money and imagination in creating the ultimate, often alternative, home. This North London property is no exception. Built on a brown field site in central London, with 16 party wall arrangements and a bankrupt building contractor, it is a lesson in determination over adversity. The result is a stunning, LA-style residence filled with light despite being half underground to maximise the site and with few conventional windows to give the family privacy from the surrounding properties.
The five bathrooms, including one linked to a subterranean swimming pool, gym and sauna, are fitted entirely in TOTO. The family bathroom features a luxurious NEOREST LE bath and basin in tactile, translucent, hard-wearing Luminist material and a NEOREST SE WASHLET®, TOTO’s ultimate, intimate-cleansing Japanese-style WC. The sophisticated charcoal grey master en-suite has the same basin/WC combination with a NEOREST shower set of Gyrostream massaging wall jets, relaxing overhead shower and practical hand shower.
NEOREST LE WASHLET® and Luminist Vessels with elegant auto-faucets serve the ground floor cloakroom and basement gym/guest suite, while a stylish selection from TOTO’s flexible NC Series complete the self-contained ‘Nanny’ flat. Testimony to the quality and aesthetics of TOTO’s NEOREST bathroom furniture, two wall-hung white lacquer cabinets are used as bedside tables in the master bedroom and as a practical side-board/storage unit at the main entrance to the property.
